I’ve spent the last 17 years working as a graphic designer in Cardiff. With the last 13 of them as Creative Director at Black Sheep, an Advertising and Design agency in Cardiff Bay, as well as lecturing part-time on the BA(Hons) Advertising and Branding course at Swansea Metropolitan University.

My passion for filmmaking has transformed from early ‘home movie’ family films, that capture the memories of the journey we share together, to achieving 2nd place at a recent Vimeo ‘Weekend Project’ competition, one of my films being shown at a Travel Film Festival in New Delhi, India together with some of my footage being used in a Google Chromebook advertising campaign (with over 6.5 million hits) which has led to incredible feedback and encouragement from personal and business sources for me to create films professionally.

What experience do I have?
Well, for the last 15 years, I've been the Creative Director & co-owner of Black Sheep in Cardiff, one of Wales' leading creative agencies providing advertising & marketing support to companies and organisation's such as the Arts Council of Wales, Brace's Bakery, Barratt Homes PLC, Cadw (Welsh Historic Monuments), Cardiff University, Peter's Pies and SA Brain & Co together to name but a few, as well as having lectured for two years in Advertising & Design at Swansea Metropolitan University.

During the last year, I have made over 50 promotional films for companies such as Joio TV (an independent Welsh language television company), Certitec (an Adobe software, authorised training centre in Covent Garden London), Red House - a new arts venue opening this March in Merthyr Tydfil, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru (Theatre Company Wales) and Light Couture - Europe's largest chandelier showroom in Hamburg, Germany.

A little film I shot that captures the spirit & fun of rugby at Neath Athletic RFC Under 12's.
I hadn't planned on making a film as took my camera along to take a team photo for the club wall. But couldn't resist shooting a few frames of the boys during the last training session of their incredibly successful 2013-14 season, where they finished unbeaten and lifted the Afan-Nedd district cup.

This film shows the boys enjoying a game of touch rugby.

Having made two films for the bereavement charity 2 Wish Upon a Star, there was an additional message in the interviews that I'd shot that didn't belong in the other two films, so I made a third.

It's a message about why it feels good to help support a charity like theirs.

So pleased to see that my film '20:TWELVE', which was made for a 'Vimeo Weekend Challenge' and was awarded second place, has now been featured on their site with a winners badge!

A lot happens in one year. However, one of its regular highlights is our annual boys ski trip, which seems to be growing in number year on year. From the original 4 (Alex, Me, Tony & Wayne) to this years motley crüe of 10 (Ben, Rikki, Willy, Dog, Bromham & Lloyd) we headed for Portes du Soleil, Avoriaz, France for 3 days of skiing.

This is what happened...

Just quick message to say thank you for your support of my filmmaking journey last year! From working with Joio on the awesome Tir Sir Gâr project that has taught me so much, to shooting in London with Certitec and Hamburg with Light Couture. As well as my first HD wedding shoot for the lovely Amy & Ross.

2013 was an amazing year of 'dipping of my toe' into the water, one which has given me the confidence to give push on and focus all of my attention to making short promo films. With that said, I'm confident that #2014 is going to be a good year for me to really launch my filmmaking service to small businesses, makers & producers who need to promote their services with web based films.

Happy New Year everyone xx
